Penalties for playing for two teams in the same week

The rules allow for a player to play for two teams in the same week as long as they are the lowest ranked player in the higher team. This is the 'playing up' rule (7.5.2). This is really intended as a last resort way of putting out a full team and the intention is that the higher team doesn't gain advantage from it. It's a fine line but being the lowest ranked player in the team is a good start. Really they should be somewhat below that so any breach will be treated fairly black and white...

The reason I'm putting this out now is because I realise that the system has not been catching those players who have been playing for two teams in the same week but have not been the lowest ranked player in the higher team. I made a change to the code that caused it to skip over these cases a little while ago and it was just discovered in the last few days when a clear breach of the rules had not been caught.

So the code is now fixed and those teams in breach of this rule will get penalties. There are a few of them so please do look out to see if this affects you. As I say, it's important that the higher team don't gain advantage so if you've been caught out, there won't be much comeback. You'll need a heck of an excuse...

Apologies to drop this on you right at the end of the season but we must play by the rules - they do no more than enforce fair play - and this is an important one.

    Cheers,

        Richard.
