PSL THIS FRIDAY 9TH! BRISTOL VS BIRMINGHAM LIONS

    Hello Everyone!

It is already less than a week till Bristol play their 2nd home match of the PSL season against The Birmingham Lions. This will be the first time we are playing our matches on a Friday evening (9th) and it promises to be a tough match, so we'd appreciate as much of your support as possible!

The Number 1 string will be contested between Tom Ford and Joel Makin. The last time these 2 played was in the final of the 2016 Kent Open, where Tom won 11-9 in the 5th. Since then these 2 have gone in very different directions and recently in particular Joel has made some huge strides through the world rankings, currently sat at 30. He has had a brilliant start to the season, making the quarter finals of the Qatar Classic and Channel VAS St George's Open where he took out Current World Number 1 Mohamed El Shorbagy!

The Number 2 string will be contested between David Baillargeon and Jan Van Den Herrewegen. Jan is currently 98 in the World, but has been as high as 69 and can no doubt still very much play to that level. However this won't phase recently titled MVP of the team Davey B, who took our last fixture to the deciding match after dispatching current world #61 Iker Pajares.

At Number 3 string, Sean Conroy will play his first match of the PSL season against Jaymie Haycocks. Jaymie is currently ranked 117 in the world, but has been as high as 50, and those of you who have seen him play many times at Workout will know of the standard he still plays. Sean is close to his highest ever world ranking at 127 and trains full time here in Bristol, so will no doubt have the advantage of knowing the courts inside out!

At Number 4 Mike Harris will face Stuart Macgregor. Stuart is a young player currently based in Birmingham, but has already made his way through the rankings where he sits at his highest world ranking of 159. However this will not phase Mike, who has a huge amount of experience and will be hungry to get the win for the team after narrowly losing a potentially decisive match against Baptiste Masotti in the last fixture.

And the Women's match will be contested between recently crowned World University Champion Lily Taylor and Current World top 30 Millie Tomlinson. The last time these 2 played was in a very exciting PSL match which Lily won! No doubt their match on Friday won't disappoint.

This promises to be a brilliant evening, one where a result is very difficult to predict. Again! One thing is for sure though, support on the night could be the 6th "man" we need!

We hope to see as many of you as possible on Friday!

    With gratitude,

    Tom
