It turns out that you can only really do two things directly with the ES membership system:
- Add players
- Delete players
That gets you a set of players and membership numbers but doesn’t take account of:
- When you add a player, their number still needs to be validated
- Some players need to move club and take their number with them
- Some players just need their name changed
- Adding a player stiffs you with the bill for a new player even if you’re within the totals you have declared and paid for
We’ve been talking to Steve Jones at ES about this and we have a plan…
Rather than everyone going to Steve with a jumble of requests all at once:
- Do what you need to do in the way of adding/deleting players so you have the list of players that you need and numbers for them.
- Enter those numbers on to the badsquash website for each player
- Hold off on any players that you know are moving over from another club
- Make a note of what is still needed:
- That all your players now need validating
- That deleted players can, indeed now be deleted
- Which players need their names changed on the ES system
- Which players have changed club
- And send that list to me as I’ll be working directly with Steve to get everyone sorted club by club working through the whole county.
Don't forget to include both the ladies and the mixed leagues! Don't worry about doubles or whoever plays in the summer league.
When I add the checks to the system, they’ll be fairly flexible to start with and just check there’s a sensible looking number entered but once we’ve worked through all the changes with Steve, we’ll turn the active membership checking on and flag up anyone who’s played more than three times but isn’t a member.
