Return to leagues - final call for teams

Many thanks to the clubs who have responded to our call for teams for the summer league. There are a few we haven't heard from yet so do please make sure your voice has been heard in your club. We do need to hear actively from your club captain in order for your team to included in this summer's league. These are the clubs we have heard from:

    Redland  6
    Workout  4
    Lansdown 4
    Thornbury 2
    BAWA  Awaiting numbers
    Keynsham  Awaiting numbers
    Bradley Stoke 2
    Kingswood 4
    Kingsdown  1
    Redwood  Awaiting numbers
    Yate  2
    Weston Unable to join
    Colston  Unable to join
David Lloyd (LA) Unable to join

The June 21st 'rules relaxation' date is currently hanging in the balance. It sounds like it might be delayed a couple of weeks. We're likely to be restricted to three players per team before then but back to four players per team after. In order to fit the 10 weeks of fixtures in we'll have to start around then though.

We'll just have to see how it goes. First step is team numbers so please get back to us in the next few days - either way as we'd like to hear from all teams.

    Thanks,

       Richard and Michael

Many thanks to those who participated in the survey. We're looking through the results but it's very clear that there's a lot of enthusiasm to get going again and we'd like to run a summer league along the lines of a 'normal summer league' though with a little extra flexibilty and optional social time afterwards.

Details to follow but I wanted to get this note out quicky to get things going - i.e. we want to know how many teams each club will have and what sort of level they will be.

The overwhelming desire was for 4 players per team but we're still getting clarification from ES if that's OK under the current guidelines. Their update yesterday 'strongly encouraged' 3 per team. We're thinking that may be the case until things open up further so we may need to start at 3 and increase to 4 when we can. I guess this is a fluid situation but we must remain within ES guidelines.

More when we have it. In the meantime, please work with your club captains and let me know how many teams your club will have on the assumption of 4 players per team. We'll get there eventually!

Don't forget a 10 week league starting in mid June is going to stretch through July and August so please take account of holidays...

    Thanks,

        Richard

We are looking to organise some leagues over summer to get us back into the swing of it all. It's a tricky time as we get used to going outside again, let alone getting back on court, so we want to come up with something that appeals to as many as possible while acknowledgeing that some folks won't be so keen to start with.

In broad brush terms we're looking to do:

    • Something along the lines of previous summer leagues but less formal and more flexible
    • Start mid-June, run for a couple of months
    • Treat this as a back to league placeholder and not impact our 'normal' summer league divisions. No promotion/relegation.

To get your view on what you'd like to see, please fill out the 10 multi-choice questions on this survey. It should only take a few minutes and we really want to hear from you:

Replies by the end of the weekend please so we can make a start.

These emails only go to those registered on badsquash so please forward on/share the survey link with your teammates too.

    Many thanks,

Richard, Michael, Wendy and the rest of the committee
